The Tall Ships Race 2027

Bordeaux Métropole hosts the world's largest sailing ships

From July 7 to 11, 2027, Bordeaux Métropole and the City of Bordeaux will live to the rhythm of the great sailing ships as the departure port for the Tall Ships Race 2027, organized by Sail Training International.

This prestigious event will bring together sailing ships from around the globe. By combining this historic race with Bordeaux Wine Festival, the quays and the estuary will be the stage for a grand celebration blending nautical heritage and the art of living!

A prestigious encounter between history and festivities

After hosting the Tall Ships Regatta in 2018 during the 20th anniversary of Bordeaux Wine Festival, the Métropole is taking another step forward by becoming the departure port for the Tall Ships Race 2027.

For four days, the ships will be stationed along the Bordeaux quays before the race sets off, leading these giants of the seas to A Coruña (Spain) and Sines (Portugal).

Since its creation in 1953, the Tall Ships Race has promoted international friendship and the training of young people in the art of traditional navigation. More than half of the participating crews will consist of young trainees aged 15 to 25, eager to discover and share a unique experience at sea.

An exceptional event not to be missed

The 2027 edition promises to be an unmissable event thanks to its fusion with Bordeaux Wine Festival. Concerts, activities and tastings, nautical parades on the Garonne and the estuary… Visitors will have the chance to admire these old sailing ships, embark on exceptional cruises, and enjoy a unique program of events.

This event is supported by a broad and ambitious partnership led by Bordeaux Métropole, the City of Bordeaux, the Bordeaux Métropole Tourism and Congress Office, and major stakeholders such as the Bordeaux Wine Council, the Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux, and the Bordeaux Gironde Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
